Keep me burning till the break of day! :D

Give me a piece of paper and a pen, then I will write
Give me a book, then I will read
Give me a song, then I will sing:

Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Give me oil in my lamp, I pray
Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning, burning, burning
Keep me burning till the break of day..
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, sing hosanna to the King of kings..
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, sing hosanna to the King of kings!!!

I haven’t videotaped this song with my students, but this song has been our song for a couple days. I will try my best to videotape and upload it soon.
Happy Monday!

Jesus’ love is…more!

Lyrics (Indonesian):
Kasih Yesus indah indah oh indah
Kasih Yesus indah indah oh indah
Lebih indah dari pelangi
Lebih indah dari bintang di langit
Lebih indah dari bunga di padang
O Yesusku! 🙂

Jesus’ love is beautiful!
more beautiful than the rainbow,
more beautiful than the stars of the sky,
more beautiful than the flowers of the field.
Jesus’ love is…more!

these are my fifth graders in Sekolah Lentera Harapan Palopo. greetings from us!!

Vanilla Twilight

The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
Cause I’ll doze off safe and soundly
But I’ll miss your arms around me
I’d send a postcard to you, dear
Cause I wish you were here

I’ll watch the night turn light blue
But it’s not the same without you
Because it takes two to whisper quietly
The silence isn’t so bad
Till I look at my hands and feel sad
Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly

I’ll find repose in new ways
Though I haven’t slept in two days
Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone
But drenched in vanilla twilight
I’ll sit on the front porch all night
Waist deep in thought because when
I think of you I don’t feel so alone

I don’t feel so alone
I don’t feel so alone

As many times as I blink
I’ll think of you tonight
(Tonight, tonight, tonight…)

I’ll think of you tonight

When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I’ll taste the sky and feel alive again
And I’ll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won’t forget you
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past
I’d whisper in your ear:
“Oh darling I wish you were here”

Vienna by Billy Joel

been listening to this song recently.

Slow down you crazy child
You’re so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you’re so smart tell me,
Why are you still so afraid? (mmmmm)

Where’s the fire, what’s the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day (Ay)

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You’re gonna kick off before you even get halfway through (Oooh)
When will you realize… Vienna waits for you?

Slow down you’re doing fine
You can’t be everything you want to be before your time
Although it’s so romantic on the borderline tonight (tonight)

Too bad, but it’s the life you lead
You’re so ahead of yourself that you forgot what you need
Though you can see when you’re wrong
You know you can’t always see when you’re right (you’re right)

You got your passion, you got your pride
But don’t you know that only fools are satisfied?
Dream on, but don’t imagine they’ll all come true (Oooh)
When will you realize… Vienna waits for you?

Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It’s alright, you can afford to lose a day or two (oooh)
When will you realize… Vienna waits for you?

And you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want or you can just get old
You’re gonna kick off before you even get halfway through (oooh)
Why don’t you realize… Vienna waits for you?

When will you realize… Vienna waits for you?

The heart of the problem is the problem of the heart

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdQUNZQqrss

It’s been quite a while I didn’t blog. Been so busy and overwhelmed with my final research makes me only ended up queuing my posts in the draft. But yeah, it feels so good to finally be writing again 🙂

Well, this post is actually my personal reflection after listening to a message in teachers chapel last Wednesday. The message was about guarding our heart.

Do we realize that since very early ages in our life, we’ve been taught to be “good’ people that exhibit good behavior? And the indicator of being a good person is actually by behaving well in front of other people. We need to follow the rules, we need to do things politely, we cant be rude to people. That sounds so good, huh? And I don’t think that it is wrong. But we seem to focus only to the outside than the inside. We care so much about “the person that we try to present” in front of people, but we neglect “the person who we really are in the heart”. We can be good outside, but no one ever knows our motives deep inside our hearts.

Look around us,
People blame money for greediness.
People blame sex for immorality.
People blame technology for individuality.
Even more, people blame Satan for their bad behavior.

We’ve been missing the heart of the problem. Because the heart of the problem is actually the problem of the heart.
This song from Trip Lee depicts clearly that we’ve been missing it. Since we do not want to be judged as wrong, we tend to blame other things for our own sin.

As Jesus said,
“Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.” -Matthew 15:17-20

So, is everything okay with your heart?

Above everything else, guard your heart.

It is where your life comes from. -Proverbs 4:23
